'Laws of the Jungle' admits to exaggeration of content and releases full apology to viewers

Article: 'Laws of the Jungle' official apology "We admit to the exaggerated content, it was the greed of the producers"

1. [+526, -110] To say it took them 7 hours to go up a mountain that in actuality takes just 30 minutes, that is not a mere exaggeration of content but outright fraud. The viewer has no option but to believe what is presented before them. They asked to halt the outright hate on the show but their excuses are no better.

2. [+480, -86] It would've been better if they were honest and admitted to all of this from the start. Too much has already been exposed for them to admit only so little.

3. [+112, -55] They basically beat around the bush in the apology, refusing to mention any of the scenes that the netizens found to be fabricated. It's too late now. To the viewers, Kim Byung Man and 'Laws of the Jungle' are over.

Article: 'Laws of the Jungle' producers "We admit to the exaggeration of content... We apologize"

Source:
Oh My News via Naver

1. [+138, -14] I get that it's a TV show and that it's a variety but if things were exaggerated to this extent, it's not a mere chance of direction but outright manipulation. The natives they claimed had never come in contact with the outside world all had Facebook accounts... The native marriage ceremonies that the show featured were already married couples that are tour guides....

2. [+116, -10] They played the viewers, making every other scene seem as if their lives were on the line. As if every jungle they came across had no path previously paved.. As if every native had never met a foreigner.. There's a certain extent to every lie and they crossed every line.

3. [+97, -7] They're obviously only putting this out now because the evidence is all over the internet. Just yesterday, they were so adamant about never fooling the viewers and asking everyone to stop the hate. Just a simple Google search revealed all of this, imagine what more lies are under the show that we can't find?

  1. The producers must have seriously been living in the 19th century if they thought that people would just watch the show and no one would be the wiser for it. Given netizens' CIA-like nature, it was only a matter of time before they began to compile evidence to expose this show. Park Bo Young's CEO only got the ball rolling on that one.

  2. I can see the end of the show already

  3. So wait a minute, the (drunk) agency CEO for that actress was RIGHT after all? Who the hell can keep all this crazy shit straight? It's worse than a K-drama!

  4. well... and i was waiting for the new session with park boyoung...

Wow. They are advanced. I'm worried they will have sasaeng fans next. lol

  6. i never get why when people in the entertainment industry did something wrong, they never admit their wrongdoing and then later on apologize for doing it.
i will never get this fact.
i mean ... just stick with what you originally said and go until the end with it.
why lie.. and then apologize. that's what i hate.

  7. How are these people so naive? Who gives a shit if it's staged? News flash, genius knetizens THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS REALITY TV.

    1. Err it's more the fact that this show claimed all that stuff like how the natives they met didn't have much contact with the outside world but really they were part of tour packages. For the show to have made such outrageous claims and then to have netizens uncover that it was all a hoax looks pretty bad.

  8. Park Bo Young's CEO/ BF/ Head of her agency or whatever he is is just made Park Bo Young's name to be associated to the actress that destroyed a variety show....

Variety show rule #1: you never reveal the behind the scenes truth to the viewers cos then the illusion is destroyed and the show falls....

Looking forward to seeing the ratings of the show for the upcoming weeks...heard it was a good show (didn't watch it) so it would be sad to see it all come to end this way......

  9. idc about this show but park bo young better not get any hate for this.. I'm not even sure why she went on this show in the first place..

    ReplyDelete
  10. Cos k-netizens never forgive so it's best to just deny and find ways to make your excuse the truth as soon as possible and make sure the truth never sees the daylight but in this case they couldn't do that cos netizens were already finding evidence and bringing them out.....

    ReplyDelete
  11. Because it's a show with high ratings and was "once loved" in Korea......hence she wanted more exposure through it.....

    ReplyDelete
  12. IKR. The real facepalmer here is not that it was staged but that people actually thought it was real in the first place.

  13. They really underestimate the viewers' intelligence.

    Don't fool around with us.

Their retribution will be much bigger their their gain.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You were fooled for over a year so what intelligence are you talking about?...If not for that CEO you would still be fooled.....Intelligence?...lol

  15. yeah it's dumb but at the same time, the show sold itself on being ~100% authentic. so I'm not really feeling bad for them right now. they could've avoided this if they didn't put so much stress on it being ~real.

    ReplyDelete
  16. does she need more exposure though. she's one of the biggest rising stars in korea right now and had a huge box office hit last year. there are other "safer" variety shows to put her on.

    ReplyDelete
  17. didn't kim byung man stake his career to reassure that LOTJ is 100% real?
so what now,is he willing to retire because they exaggerate the contents of the show?
k-variety is in the spotlight nowadays.LOL

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm sorry but what reality/variety show ISN'T staged to some degree? you don't need to be a a genius to know this. These netizens are so naive..

the primary goal is to entertain the viewer. they have to keep the show interesting by any means... whether you like it or not, that's just the reality of the situation. If you're gonna through a fit about this then might as well just boycott all reality/variety shows while you're at it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. the evidence was already released BEFORE they denied everything and saying it wasn't a tour package and what not. even kim byung man stated that it was the truth or w.e
the thing is, wouldn't it have been better to apologize and get a lighter sentence then all the hate they are getting now.

and it's not like it's the first time something like this happened in the industry which frustrates me because i feel like the people never learn from past mistakes.

  20. lol sidenote: everyone turned so tan but boyoung

  21. When the viewers are dumb enough to believe that any TV labeled as reality is in fact, reality, then the "Intelligence" they speak of is indeed, ignorance.

I mean really anyone who believes any TV isn't scripted or edited to you know, entertain,is a fucking idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes they all do....Actors/ actresses that mostly film movies need more exposure/promotion than those that regularly do dramas unless you're an A-lister (which she isn't).....

Safer is not the same to high popularity...The only variety shows that pull in high numbers in ratings and are popular are Running Man, 1N2D & Laws of the Jungle at the moment. So to be in a season of Laws of the Jungle would definitely leave a longer lasting impression in a wider audience than any of the other shows that you just appear in one episode and it's done with.....

    ReplyDelete
  23. No it wasn't, they denied it immediately when the CEO guy tweeted the evidence came a day after that but was not in the media...It hit the media with dispatch yesterday....

They should all deny, cos when you admit and say the truth it's over for you so you might as well deny and enjoy it a little longer before it's over for you.....

If it were some other countries then yes come out with the truth immediately but with Korea, NO you're dead either way.....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Funny thing is if there's no exaggeration and scripting this show would be like watching discovery channel and Korean viewers would say it's "not fresh and refreshing" along with the show having low ratings.......Also, the cast and crew might even get their asses chased out by some villagers when they go to actual uncivilized villages...

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is embarassing, they were caught making the viewers look like a fool to believe them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. it became a bigger issue because of dispatch but it was already floating around the internet before that and was a hot response.

and i disagree with you. because even though they get backlash whether they lie or not, they are getting MORE hate for 'trying to deny' and deceive the public.

anyway, it's just that we have different opinions. i see no need to argue over this with you.

  27. i always see your comments around here. you always say the same things

  28. I only watched the first 2 episodes of the one with 2AM's Jinwoon in it and could see how a lot of things were pretty staged but I didn't really care...I just stopped watching it cus I didn't find it that interesting....I really like KBM so this is a shame that this might actually end his career since it's pretty much his show. such a shame

  29. Makes it even more awkward when they show up at the airport in hiking gear. lol

  30. This makes me remember about Kim Byung Man blind items rumor and how he treats his hoobaes and fellow comedian in ill manner ever since 'The Law of the Jungle" got big...

Maybe this is what the other comedian mean by getting revenge..

    ReplyDelete
  31. lol Like what exactly? I think it'd actually be in my best interest if my comments were consistent. Wouldn't want anyone calling me out for being a flip flopper or two-faced ^_^

  32. I love the premise of laws of the jungle but they should leave out the natives and just focus on survival techniques although man vs wild was also pretty fake at least bear grylls actual had legit survival techniques. Laws of the jungle was never really about variety it was more documentary anyway. And the fact that the documentary was false information is a pretty big hit. While wgm is variety show so everyone to an extent knows that It is fake But laws of the jungle as more docu than variety so people to extent wanted to believe the contents of the show

  33. I wouldn't bother replying to trolls. You are one of the original netizen buzz members. I always like your comments. Its not like the garbage i see fan girls spewing.

    amen.

  35. Thank you! This really means a lot <3

    ReplyDelete
  36. LOL... why publish two statements denying accusations that your show wasn't "reality," only to admit to it later on? Should've admitted it the first time around but the evidence was just to overwhelming. Tsktsktsk...

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm probably am not one to say this but why make such a big deal out of this whether they said/didn't say it was base on true facts or not? When put out there where no civilization is, suck with nothing but what's surrounds you, what would you do? Granted that it wasn't like that but every show has to have planning done, to see what the pros and cons are. Plus, there were evidences of other people (Natives/tour guides) guiding them whenever they stop or had questions and that is with them at all time broadcast on air. They even slept outside in the rain, cold, snow, and what not (cams on them 24/7). Give them some props for even going that far to the extent of trying when they're not Bear Grylls and who ever else is out there doing survival shows. We as the viewers should at least give them that much. Whether we were lied to or what not, whoever watched the show enjoy the show for it gave us all an eye opener of what's out there in the world. Exaggeration and spontaneous moments are going to be needed to spark some drama/interest in viewers just like when reading a book, watching a sitcom, movie, or whatever it is. So rather then saying so much about them lying, take it as something educational to learn from when we get suck/stranded in that kind of situation out in no where.

  38. Despite this fact, research is still in progress and those involved in the field
are positive that both the efficiency and performance of photovoltaics will improve over
time. You do not have to cook only chicken and turkey in this infrared
cooker, it will also cook pork chops, roasts, lamb, and tenderloin.
This technology provides an innovative form of flame-less cooking.

  39. I like Laws of the Jungles and I don't care whether it's exaggeration or not on the script, heck many viewers are just too stupid to understand between Korean Variety shows and the Documentary one.

Laws of the Jungles are KVariety show, so don't believe too much on what they say and expect a lot of exaggeration even Running Man has too much exaggeration too.

Laws of the Jungles are informative too they provide true information about animals they encountered, and posted it if its endangered species or if its ok to hunt them.

The only exaggeration I found about them are the info about the place like they took about 7hrs while it can only took it for less than 1hr. Which I think they exaggerated them coz they carrying equipments need to set up first and the Crew need to check the Trails first if its safe or not that is why they took more time.

The Agency of Park Bo Young are too dumb to say those statement, coz Variety shows will second thought about guesting their talents like Park Bo Young, I pity Bo Young coz she's in the middle of it.

But I love both Laws of the Jungles and Running Man coz it entertains me.
